Cleaning up comments, I came across this very interesting comment of Jane Chin on my post : Why is cancer still around?
Summarized I said:
- because cancer is big business for the drug and medicine companies,
- because cancer brings in lots of money for the hospitals.
Jane says:
I disagree with the logic that cancer is around because it is a business. People get cancer for all sorts of reasons – poor prevention (people still smoke and burn themselves under the sun to get a tan) or unlucky genetics to name a couple of those reasons. It is true that healthcare providers and drug companies generate a revenue from the products and services around cancer. However, the implication that somehow there is no cure for cancer or even a causation of cancer because there is a conspiracy of greed seems in my personal opinion a flawed over-generalization.
My opinion and comment on Jane Chin’s comment
I agree when Jane says there is poor prevention:
- poor: if you have no money, your health will suffer from it
- poor prevention:
- every day I have to breath in sick air because oil and charcoal businesses do everything they can in order not to get healthy energy getting in the way to make a profit
- every day most of us are eating food with residues of pesticides, antibiotics and hormones, how to prevent diseases if you cannot eat healthy?
We humans live on food and air, but where do we find healthy food and healthy air?
Why is so much money spend on trying to cure the diesease and why is so little money spend on preventing the disease that can hardly be cured?
@lightfl: Not only our lifestyle; we don’t have much of a choice when it comes to breathing fresh air in a city like Kuala Lumpur, especially when the government says everything is under controle…haze or no haze…
It’s the things that are in the air that we cannot see and the things like pesticide residus in our food that we can’t see that is killing us…

Stem cell therapy is happening and it is curing some cancers. In cancer treatment you will have to go to Mexico, or India or the Orient. We have gotten all hung up on embryonic stem cell therapy and its ethical implications in this country. Such a waste of time. Other countries are moving forward with adult stem cell therapy and sheep stem cell therapy with great success. It is in the US but it is hard to find and still undercover. FDA has approved some stem cell products.
I think the main cause of cancer is all about our lifestyle and diet…Everyone has cancer cells in their body and we are save as long as we do not wake them up…how do we wake them up? well, stress and diet will be some of the main reasons to contribute to the rising cases of various cancers…
